Dog Sketches - Pencil Drawings of Dogs is a page, where I present to you free sketches of dogs, all kinds of dogs.
You will find Deutche Dogge, Bull Dogs, Dachshund, Chihuahua, Beagle,  Chow-Chow, Border Collie Husky and many more. Some of the dogs I do not know the origin of.

 

The pencil drawings of dogs are all original, some made after photos, I have taken, some made after photos on the internet or photos taken by friends.

It is, for people who like dogs, a great gallery of pencil sketches.

The sketches are all, at least for now, black and white sketches, and all pencil sketches.

On my website here you will also find a page called "How to Draw a Dog", where you can find some basic ideas about drawing the shape of a dog.


Actually I find it very difficult to describe how I draw a dog, because it has always been easy for me to draw what I see, and of course the more you do it, the easier it gets :-)

One thing I do that helps, though, is thinking of drawing the gaps, the space between the legs, the triangle that is created by the eyes and the snout.
This really helps getting the proportions right.

If you take a look at the drawing of the Chinese-crested below, try to imagine the space between the two front legs as a shape in itself, and use that as a help to draw the legs right.
The same with the hind legs, and the curves that surround the dog's body.
